On Wednesday, October 5th, PCSGA staff and grower members, along with volunteers, participated in the South Sound Beach Cleanup. PCSGA hosts two cleanup events annually, one in the spring and one in the fall. At this year’s fall cleanup, we had volunteers cleaning at National Fish & Oyster in Nisqually, WA, and at the Arcadia Boat Launch in Shelton, WA. We had a lot of grower members who participated: Salish Seafood, Squaxin Tribe, Skokomish Tribe, Seattle Shellfish, National Fish & Oyster, Chelsea Farms, NW Shellfish, Taylor Shellfish, Sound Shellfish and Wallin’s Oysters and Clams. Combined there were around 103 crew members on 16 boats and 7 people helping out on shore to sort and count debris. Here are some photos from the event:

Special Thank You To:

Steve and Vicki Wilson of Arcadia Point Seafood for driving to pick up pizza!

Bobbi Hudson of Pacific Shellfish Institute for keeping track of the boats and maps.

THANK YOU to everyone that came out and participated in our cleanup event. We couldn’t have done it without you. See you again in the spring!
