Consider going out on a low tide to conduct a habitat survey. This type of information can be added to JARPA Section 5L. Take pictures to document. Items to survey and observe include:
- High tide line
- Wrack line
- Substrate type (is the substrate suitable for forage fish spawning?)
- Species observations (e.g., invertebrates, birds)
- Submerged aquatic vegetation observations
- Document eelgrass presence or absence.
- How abundant (percent cover) is macroalgae?
- Large woody material observations
- Riparian condition and vegetation
If there is eelgrass present on your farm, an additional eelgrass delineation survey may be required.
Typical Document Requirements:
- Eelgrass delineation report
- Based on the following guidance from the Corps: Components of a Complete Eelgrass Delineation Report
Notes:
- Eelgrass delineation surveys must occur between June 1 and September 30.
- The presence of eelgrass can dictate what is allowable under the Programmatic Consultation (more information is available on the Endangered Species Act Coverage page). Refer to the Conservation Measures for details.
- PCSGA can help identify resources for getting an eelgrass delineation done.
